Traveling to Kent

By Air

Laguardia Airport (LGA) in New York City is the closest airport to Kent (assuming you’re not taking a private plane or a helicopter.

JFK International Airport (JFK) is not too far away either, and is a fine choice for your arrival in New York.

Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) in Newark, NJ is also doable, but further away.

Bradley International Airport (BDL) in Hartford is also absolutely an option.

For those who don’t want to rent a car, we are hoping to organize some transportation to get as many of you as possible from the NYC Airports up to Kent. Please remember to fill out that travel form!

By Train

The closest train station to the house is Harlem Valley - Wingdale on the Metro-North Railway’s Harlem Line..

It will be easiest to get on the train at either
Grand Central Terminal in Midtown Manhattan
or at Harlem-125th Station in Harlem.

Unfortunately, there isn’t a direct train from NYC to Wingdale. You have to transfer at Southeast Station. And trains don’t run extremely frequently from Southeast to Wingdale.

All of that is to say: if you take a train up to Southeast, and discover that there isn’t a train to Wingdale for hours and hours, we can come pick you up at Southeast Station.

You can find train schedules and a trip planner on
Metro-North’s website.

If you’re coming by train, please let us know so that we can plan to pick you up in Wingdale. In other words, please remember to fill out that travel form!

By Car

Kent is about 90 miles north of New York City. The drive could take anywhere from 90 minutes to 2.5 hours, depending on traffic (and where in the city you’re leaving from). There are a couple of different ways to approach Kent, and we recommend using your GPS to help you avoid the traffic.

If you were inclined to take a cab up to Kent from NYC, be advised that it will be very expensive.

We will be able to accommodate a great deal of parking at the house.
